Abstract

ABSTRACT: Tanjung Pering Village is one of the villages located in North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. Most of the inhabitants of Tanjung Pering Village work as farmers and gardeners, making Tanjung Pering Village has abundant plant potential. The current problems faced by the village are environmental problems. The community is still lacking in the level of awareness about waste management. This problem can be overcome by utilizing organic waste as raw material for making liquid organic fertilizer (POC) and POC production equipment. The purpose of this activity is to empower the people of Tanjung Pering Village in processing fruit peel waste into POC and making POC production equipment. The method used is the pre-implementation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation or checking stage. The result of this service activity is that the people of Tanjung Pering Village, especially Hamlet 3 have knowledge about waste processing, utilizing waste as POC, and making POC production equipment. To speed up the process of decomposition or fermentation of fertilizers requires liquid sugar and EM4. The results of monitoring and evaluation show that processing fruit peel waste into liquid organic fertilizer is the right step in tackling the problem of fruit peel waste in Tanjung Pering Village. Waste can produce useful value products and the community can develop POC as a sustainable effort of community service programs.
