Abstract

In 2020, the Banyuasin Regency Government provided assistance for Super Java Chicken (JOPER) for the people of Tanjung Laut Village, Suak Tapeh District, Banyuasin Regency. A total of 200 families received the assistance of this chicken with the number of each family being 200 heads. This chicken has a large weight unlike ordinary village chickens and this chicken does not want to just lay eggs and does not want to incubate its own eggs. So far, the eggs that want to be incubated are assisted by chickens or village ducks. The hatching process using substitute brooders has problems when there are no native chickens or ducks laying eggs, so the incubation process cannot run sustainably. In this hatching process, the community has also made and used an electric incubator but the results were not satisfactory. The percentage of eggs that hatch is less than 10% even below 5%. If there is no breeding process, of course this will make the level of sustainability of this chicken livestock stop. So to help the community here, counseling is given about hatching eggs using an automatic electric hatching machine. The method used is to provide assistance and counseling as well as socialization to the community regarding the manufacture and use of automatic electric incubators. In this activity, the community was given assistance on how to make a hatching machine and the stages in the process of hatching eggs using an incubator, starting from the selection of brooders, selecting good eggs, monitoring eggs and incubating machines. After the assistance, the community has begun to understand and be able to practice good and correct procedures for using electric incubators. The result is the percentage of eggs that hatch is above 85% in each hatching cycle. Currently the community is no longer constrained in the breeding process and has the opportunity to be able to sell chicks so that it is expected to help the local community's economy.
